Rwanda Women’s Network assesses the implementation of SDG8: decent work

The lack of a minimum wage in Rwanda is the biggest obstacle towards achieving SDG8 – which advocates for decent work – a report has said. Rwanda Women’s Network (RWN), one of the implementing partners of the Women@Work Campaign has published a position brief on the implementation of SDG8 in Rwanda, which focuses on the promotion of decent work.

“This position brief gives a perspective on the implementation of SDG8 and addresses decent work challenges, highlighting gender mainstreaming and women’s empowerment challenges”, explains Odette Dushime Ntambara, Communication & Advocacy Officer for RWN.

UNMISS engages women on peacebuilding in Rumbek

A group of 40 women in Rumbek talked about their possible contributions to peacebuilding during an engagement organized by the UNMISS Public Information Section in Rumbek.

The women’s group from the Sacred Heart Parish was shown the documentary ‘Pray the devil back to hell’. The film tells the story of Liberian women and their efforts for the peace process. After the movie the UNMISS team comprised of the Gender, Civil Affairs and Public Information Section held a group discussion with the participants.
